National Response Service The Skyguard National Response Service is an integral part of the Skyguard Personal Safety Service and is there to provide: A back-up to the emergency services if they are unable to attend A response when calling an emergency service is not appropriate Any response that customers may require outside an emergency The service consists of some 780 vehicles from 200 security companies - all members of the Nikaro Ltd National Keyholding Service network. They are contracted exclusively to the Skyguard Emergency Response Centre to respond to personal safety situations as and when they arise through the Skyguard Service. All the drivers are registered with the Security Industry Authority, (SIA), and their companies will be certificated to the SIA Approved Contractor Scheme. Thus they will meet the highest standards set by the Government in the Private Security Industry Act of 2001 including Police National Computer checks and training standards. The decision to call out the Response Service is at the discretion of the Controller unless customers specifically state otherwise; bearing in mind that the Controller is responsible for the management of potentially life threatening emergency situations. There are no retainers for this service and a fee is charged only for verified use of the service at the rate of £80 (incl.VAT) per hour or part thereof. Timing starts when the drivers receive their initial briefing from the Emergency Response Centre. Confidentiality No personal information on individual users is accessible by a Controller until either the user activates an alarm or the police request active tracking where a missing person situation is declared. Such information will not be disclosed to an employer or family unless specifically agreed by the individual.
